COLUMBIA - Around 1,000 dogs and their owners will be in Columbia Saturday and Sunday. Columbia Missouri Kennel Club is holding the 2013 All Breed Dog Show at the Central Missouri Event Center.

Shows on Saturday and Sunday start at 8:00 a.m. and admission is $2.00 for those twelves years old and over.

The city of Columbia is expecting an economic surplus of about $400,000 from dining, hotel rooms, and travel expenses spent by dog owners.

Motel 6 and Super 8 motels are popular choices for many dog owners attending the show because they are both animal friendly.

Phil Goldsmith, an employee at Super 8 motel, said "We waive the pet fee for show dogs staying at our motel because they are so well behaved."

Many dog owners traveled more than 500 miles to reach this weekend's dog show.
