Columbia Man Arrested After Vehicle Chase, Crash
BOONE COUNTY - A vehicle chase and crash led to the arrest of a Columbia man and sent a person to the hospital early Saturday morning.
Boone County Sheriff's deputies arrested 25-year-old Zachary Bullard for second degree assault, driving while intoxicated, driving while suspended, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest by fleeing causing substantial risk of injury, and first degree tampering. Bullard also had an active felony probation violation warrant.
Deputies were dispatched to a disturbance in the 3900 block of Ketterer Road around 1:40 Saturday morning. Deputies learned the suspect was leaving the area in a silver Ford F-250 truck. Deputies located and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver failed to yield and a pursuit ensued north on Route B.
In the 3800 block of Mount Zion Church Road the driver exited the truck without parking it. The vehicle continued into a ditch and crashed into a tree, pinning a passenger between the vehicle and the tree.
The female passenger was transported to the hospital, where she was treated and released.
Deputies later learned the vehicle had been stolen. Bullard's total bond is $35,500.
