COLUMBIA - The Columbia Police Department arrested Damon Lamont Poston Jr. at approximately 8:25 a.m. Sunday for first degree Arson, first degree Burglary and felony stealing.
Poston broke into his ex-girlfriend's residence on Apple Tree Court in Columbia at approximately 4:30 a.m. Sunday. According to a press release from the police department, Poston started a fire in the bedroom of the ex-girlfriend's residence. The woman was not home at the time of the fire, but her brother was inside the residence. Poston also took his ex-girlfriend's vehicle without her permission when he left the apartment. The apartment complex where the fire was set is part of a "four-plex." There were a total of eleven people in the "four-plex" when Poston started the fire. No one was injured.
Poston was arrested at his residence in Columbia after a brief standoff with the police department.
