Columbia Man Arrested for Assault after Pulling Handgun

BOONE COUNTY - The Boone County Sheriff's Department arrested a Columbia man after he pointed a handgun at another man while discussing an item to be purchased.

The suspect, 30-year-old Ronnie Long, fled the 10400 block of Highway VV in a vehicle after the assault.

The suspect was arrested by a deputy while he was driving in the 7000 block of Moberly Drive. The deputy discovered a loaded handgun at the time of arrest and learned that Long's driving status had been revoked. Long has also been previously convicted for a felony making it illegal for him to be in possession of a handgun.

Long was arrested on five charges including third degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, driving while revoked and armed criminal action.
