Columbia man arrested for drug possession and resisting arrest
COLUMBIA - A Columbia man is facing drug and assault charges after being arrested early Thursday, according to the Boone County Sheriff's Department.
Demarco Raydell Carter, 21, was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, assault of a law enforcement officer, tampering with physical evidence and delivery of a controlled substance. Deputies attempted to pull Carter's vehicle over around 3 a.m. before a chase and small incident insued.
They eventually used a tire deflation device to disable several of Carter's tires near the 2800 block of Mexico Gravel Road.
Officers then said Carter attempted to leave the scene before assaulting an officer. He was then arrested. The passenger in Carter's vehicle was released after being briefly detained, according to an arrest report.
The deputies reported items were being thrown from Carter's vehicle, and later found controlled substances along the path of the chase.
