Columbia man arrested on suspicion of attacking woman
COLUMBIA - Police arrested a man Thursday after he allegedly attacked a woman during a domestic argument.
Officers went to a home on Native Dancer Court in north Columbia shortly before 2:30 p.m. for reports of a disturbance. According to investigators, Ernest Dorema and the victim, who are in a relationship, got into an argument.
During the argument, Dorema allegedly punched the victim in the face repeatedly, as well as in her torso. Police said he then dragged her outside by the arm, shattered her phone, kicked her vehicle, and pulled her back inside.
At that point, Dorema allegedly threw her into a wall and started punching her again before pushing her to the ground, where he got on top of her and started choking her.
The victim got away from Dorema and tried to leave in her vehicle, but not before he allegedly blocked her with his own vehicle, hitting the victim's vehicle at one point. She was then able to get around him and drive away to call for help.
Officers arrested Dorema on suspicion of domestic assault, felonious restraint/kidnapping, and property damage.
