Columbia Man Charged With Assault
BOONE COUNTY - Boone County Sheriff's Department deputies were dispatched to a disturbance in the 700 Block of Demaret Drive Sunday night.
A 911 call was received from a cellular telephone and an argument could be heard between a male and two females. The male was overheard making threats to assault someone with a knife.
Deputies learned that 29-year-old Larry Gene Parnell of Columbia, became involved in a verbal argument with a woman he knows. During the course of the argument, Mr. Parnell punched the woman in the stomach and threatened her with knife, at one point placing the knife to her throat while threatening to kill her.
Parnell assaulted another person in the home when he believed she called 911. He then told her that if she called 911 he would assault her with the knife.
Mr. Parnell was arrested for Assault 3rd Degree Domestic Violence, Assault 2nd Degree Domestic Violence, and Armed Criminal Action.
Bond for the two assault charges is $5,500.00. Bond for Armed Criminal Action must be set by a judge and has not been determined yet.
