Columbia man dies in early morning accident
COLUMBIA - A Columbia man died Sunday morning after crashing his car twice, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.
35-year-old Briann Rodgers was driving on Texas Avenue near Providence Road at around 3:00 a.m. when the release said he went off the road and crashed into a utility pole.
After continuing to head west on texas Avenue, Rodgers then hit a decorative sign for Inside the Lines.
Rodgers was taken to a local hospital, but later died from injuries received during the crash.
Although CPD doesn't know why Rodgers left the road, excessive speed is believed to be a factor. According to the release, Rodgers was not wearing a seatbelt.
