Columbia Parks Department to Unveil New Plans For Twin Lakes
COLUMBIA - The Columbia Parks and Recreation Department will be taking questions and comments Thursday from the public on its new plans to renovate Little Mate's Cove and other parts of the Twin Lakes Park. Money was allocated for the department to make the renovations a year ago, and the project is still in the planning process.
A plan for the changes is available at the department's website and include new play features for Little Mate's Cove such as water cannons, fountains, and water slides. The department also plans to make a new dog park for smaller dogs, separate from the current dog park. The new park would be built in the winter dog park next to Little Mate's Cove, which used to be a swimming lake.
The department will start work on the renovations to the 20-year-old pool in early October, and an official said they hope to have all the changes done by spring of next year, when the pool re-opens after the winter months.
Representatives from the parks department will be at Little Mate's Cove from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday night.
