COLUMBIA - Columbia police officers arrested 35-year-old Dean Wilmoth Monday evening after he allegedly took a teenagers money and ran. According to the police department, Wilmoth took the 18-year-old male victim's money while there were standing on the sidewalk on Ninth Street in downtown Columbia. Officers were dispatched to the scene at 7:15 p.m. Monday.
Officers later found Wilmoth a block away with the exact amount of money in his pocket that the suspect said Wilmoth stole from him. The victim also positively idenitified Wilmoth as the man who robbed him.
Wilmoth was then transported to a local hospital where he spat on an officer. Officers arrested him for robbery in the second degree with a to-be-set bond and third degree assault of a law enforcment officer with a bond of $500.
