Columbia Police Department steps up DWI enforcement
COLUMBIA - The Columbia Police Department plans to improve road safety by cracking down on impaired driving with DWI enforcement patrols and a sobriety checkpoint September 19 through September 21.
According to a news release from the City of Columbia, of the 757 people killed in Missouri traffic crashes in 2013, nearly 30 percent of the fatalities could be attributed to substance impaired driving.
Driving while impaired can result in jail time, loss of a driver licenses or implementation of a mandatory ignition interlock device.
