Columbia Police Find Several Weapons in Man's Car

COLUMBIA - After responding to a weapons disturbance Monday, the Columbia Police Department found several weapons in a man's car.

Officers headed to 2012 McKee Street after the disturbance. The male victim in the disturbance told police 19-year-old Kevin A. Gruer pointed a shotgun at his chest. The victim told police Gruer was driving a red, two-door Chevy S10 truck.

The department said officers saw the vehicle turning onto U.S. 63 from Clark Lane. An officer pulled Gruer over in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart at 415 Conley Road.

An officer took Gruer into custody.

Police said officers found two shotguns, a rifle, multiple rounds of ammunition, a BB gun, multiple knives and a black hatchet in the vehicle.

Police said Gruer was arrested for second degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
