Columbia Police makes arrest in connection with Worley St. shooting
COLUMBIA - Police announced Saturday night they made an arrest in connection with the July 5 shooting of two women on Worley street.
The Columbia Police Department said Saturday it arrested Jamar D. Burns, 23, of Columbia, at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
The shooting occurred around 11:35 p.m. on July 5, sending one woman to the hospital. Another 17-year-old female victim was grazed by a bullet.
Police originally arrested Burns Friday in the 200 block of North Old Highway 63 in regards to a drug call.
Burns was arrested in connection with the shooting at the Boone County Jail for armed criminal action and 2 counts of first degree assault
Burns' bond in connection with the shooting has not been set.
At the time of his arrest in connection with the Worley Street crime, Burns was already being held for trespass in the first degree, misdemeanor possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana and a hand gun, felony possession of a controlled substance, and unlawfully possessing a concealed weapon.
