Columbia police mourning loss of police dog
COLUMBIA - The Columbia Police Department announced K-9 Officer Leah died at the age of 12 from natural causes.
According to a CPD press release, Leah was born on May 30, 2005 and served for nine years.
She began her career with CPD in December 2006 working alongside her handler Detective Ron Hall in the Vice Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit. She successfully located nearly $4.5 million in money and drug seizures during her nine-year career.
"K-9 Officer Leah will be sorely missed as we remember her loyal service and constant friendship. Please keep Leah's handler, partner, and best friend Detective Hall in your thoughts and prayers. May you rest in peace Leah. Thank you for your service, we'll take it from here," the press release read.
