COLUMBIA - Columbia police are investigating two separate gas station robberies at Petro-Mart gas stations in Columbia that occurred early Thursday morning.

Officers responded to a call of an armed robbery at the Petro Mart on Stadium Blvd. and Bernadette Drive at around 3:37 A.M. on Thursday.

Officials said the suspect entered through the front door displaying a handgun before demanding money. The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing on foot.

The suspect is described as being a five-foot-nine African-American male with no facial hair wearing a light colored stocking cap and brown work gloves.

Columbia Police were later dispatched to a Petro Mart location on East St. Charles Road a little before 5 A.M. on Thursday.

Officials said the two suspects involved entered the store and approached the cashier before one of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the store clerk. The suspect did receive an undisclosed amount of money. The other suspect stood at the entrance to serve as a lookout before both fled on foot.

The armed suspect is being described as being an African-American male over six feet tall with a thin build. He is being described as wearing a black jacket with a light colored stocking cap and brown work gloves. There was also dark clothing covering his face.

The lookout is being described as an African-American male under six-feet-tall, having a medium build and wearing a black jacket.

KOMU 8 News reached out to employees at both Petro Mart locations, but were unable to receive a comment on the robberies.
