Columbia Police Respond to Overnight Armed Home Invasion
COLUMBIA - Columbia police officers responded to an armed robbery at 1:38 a.m. Monday at the 1100 block of Madison Street. Two armed suspects entered a home and threatened two victims at gunpoint, according to a news release from the police department.
The suspects then struck the 27-year-old male and 35-year-old female victims in the head with guns and took money from the residence. The suspects fled the scene heading south on foot. According to the release, the victims were not injured.
The suspects are described as two, armed black males. One suspect is described as having light complexion, approximately 19 to 23-years-old, 5'9" and weighing 160 to180 pounds. The other suspect is described as having dark complexion in his mid-20s,6'2" and weighing 180 to 220 pounds. Both suspects were last seen wearing black hooded sweatshirts, black masks and jeans.
The department brought in the K-9 unit, but the tracking went unsuccessful. The investigation is ongoing.
