Columbia Police Respond to Shots Fired Over the Weekend

COLUMBIA - Columbia police officers responded to two separate incidents of shots fired over the weekend. Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Business Loop East and Rangeline Street Saturday around 11:45 p.m.

According to a news release from the police department, officers received calls regarding shots fired between occupants in a silver Dodge Charger and a gold colored four-door vehicle. The Dodge Charger was last seen heading westbound on Business Loop 70, while the gold vehicle headed northbound on Rangeline Street.

Officers recovered four shell casings near the intersection. Police have not reported any injuries or property damage.

In a separate incident, officers responded to a large disturbance at the Empire Roller Rink on 1305 E Business Loop 70 Sunday around 12:20 a.m. Officers were assisting with the disturbance when they heard multiple shots fired north of the roller rink.

Officers located six shell casings in the west parking lot of the City of Columbia Grissum Building at 1313 Lakeview Avenue. They discovered a police vehicle and a Pontiac Grand Am damaged by the gunfire, but no injuries were reported.

Both investigations are ongoing.
