Columbia Public Works prepares crews and snow plows for Tuesday
COLUMBIA - Due to expected snowfall Tuesday, Columbia Public Works are taking precautionary measures on roadways as weather moves in.
Sleet, snow and freezing rain are predicted for the area starting late Tuesday morning and lasting through early Wednesday morning. According to Columbia Public Works, the department is monitoring the weather and preparing a full crew.
They recommend that customers move parked vehicles off first and second priority routes by Tuesday morning to help snow plows work as quickly as possible during the day. Parking enforcement will be activated on priority routes when 2 inches of snow accumulates on roadways. Ticketing and towing will occur if necessary.
Customers can sign up for automatic text alerts at www.ComoSnow.com to receive notifications of when parking enforcement is being activated. Customers can also receive updates on Columbia's snow management process on their website.
As always, people are urged to use extreme caution when driving.
