Columbia's new SWAT vehicle used in drug search
COLUMBIA - The Columbia Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team announced Friday it executed a narcotics search warrant at a residence in the 600 Block of Mikel Street Thursday night.
The Bearcat armored personnel carrier was used in the service of the warrant to safely deliver the SWAT personnel to the home.
Officer located heroin in the house and seized the drug. The subject of the search warrant was not in the home at the time police serve the warrant. Officers are looking for the individual who is the target of the investigation.
In October 2013, Columbia Police revealed the new Bearcat SWAT vehicle to be used for operations such as Thursday's.
