Columbia's Planned Parenthood Stops Abortions
Planned Parenthood has temporarily stopped performing abortions in Columbia. Up until a month ago the clinic was providing abortions once a week to the public.
President Peter Brownlie said, "Abortions have stopped because the clinic doesn't have enough staff and local doctors are too busy to do the procedure."
Brownlie said, "There are many clinics around Missouri but now only two in Missouri perform abortions. One in St. Louis and one in Bridgeton." He said there is a third location that offers the procedure one mile from the Missouri state line, in Kansas.
Planned Parenthood is hopeful the doctors will be able to perform abortions again by the end of the month. But Browlie said "There's no way to know for sure when the clinic will offer abortions in Columbia again."
