Columbia School Board to Vote on Summer School Extension Monday Night
COLUMBIA - The Columbia Board of Education will vote Monday night on a new proposed summer school schedule. The proposed schedule has kindergarten through eighth grade summer school students starting on June 6th, which is a week earlier than last year. The earlier start date means these students would be out before July 4th.
The high school summer school start date would be moved up to June 6th if the school district doesn't use all of it's snow days, but school officials say that decision will be made this spring. Typically high school summer school starts after K-8 summer school because high school teachers need a longer break between the end of the regular school year and the beginning of the summer school session to allow for time to grade final exams.
