Columbia Unveils Improvement Plan
"Our biggest priority right now is the capacity and improvements in terms of roads. Roads like Scott Boulevard, Providence, Brown School Road," City Manager Bill Watkins said.
For residents like Stanley Brown, the conditions of roads have definitely caused some problems.
"The roads are just kind of bad. You know what I'm saying. Like those man hole covers right there on Providence. Those tires can't take that boomp boomp, bomp. I got a flat from one of those tires right there from it," Brown said.
Part of the plan focus on street maintenance. But, because of the harsh winter, the City Manager said most of the budget will go toward cleaning up the snow, rather fixing basic problems.
"We might be able to put some additional money back into street maintenance to make up some of those funds," Watkins said.
Before the city makes the plan official, it has to survive the city council and public debate.
