Columbia woman killed in early morning crash identified
COLUMBIA - The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a woman killed in a crash early Thursday was fleeing a traffic stop at the time of the incident.
According to the Highway Patrol, a trooper tried to pull over Karin Kespohl, 51, after finding her stopped at a green light at around 1:30 a.m. Kespohl apparently drove off, later hitting a parked car on Worley Street, which caused her vehicle to flip over.
Kespohl died at the scene. The car she hit crashed into a nearby business, but did not appear to cause any significant damage.
The Highway Patrol said it will investigate whether Kespohl had any alcohol or drugs in her system at the time.
