Cooper County bank among one of 11 robberies in six states
JEFFERSON CITY - A man from Arkansas pleaded guilty on Wednesday to a series of armed robberies at a Cooper County bank and 11 other businesses across six states.
Timothy Patrick Hoyt, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, admitted that he used what appeared to be a handgun to rob Alliant Bank in Blackwater and 11 other businesses in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, South Dakota and Iowa.
The handgun was actually a pellet gun Hoyt shoplifted from a Walmart near Blackwater before using it to rob Alliant Bank, the only bank robbed in the spree.
Hoyt robbed four Subway restaurants, two Papa Murphy's Pizza restaurants, a Sally Beauty Supply store, a Domino's Pizza, a Godfather's Pizza restaurant and a Payless ShoeSource store.
Hoyt pleaded guilty to a total of four counts filed in four different federal districts, all of which were transfered to the Western District of Missouri. Hoyt is subject to a sentence of 20 years in federal prison without parole.
