Cougar Cross Country Completes Inaugural Season at Nationals

VANCOUVER, WA -- The Columbia College cross country team finished their inaugural season on Saturday after competing at the NAIA National Championships. After winning the American Midwest Conference championship, the entire Cougar men's squad qualified to race today as well as Julia Montgomery on the women's side.

In the women's 5K race, Julia Montgomery, just a freshman for the Cougars, finished the race in a time of 22:23 in 306th place.

In a very competitive men's 8K race, the Cougar men placed 28th as a team. Cameron Schmitz was the top finisher or Columbia in a time of 26:45. Right on Schmitz's heels was Michael McCulloch with a time of 26:55. Devin Sander (27:04), Cody Gorham (27:24) and Jason Thurman (27:33) rounded out the scoring for Columbia. Jordan Andrews (28:59) and Damon Goodall (29:26) also finished the meet for the Cougars.
