Cougar Golf Competes at WWU Fall Invitational
FULTON, MO -- The Columbia College men's and women's golf teams completed competition Tuesday at Tanglewood Golf Course, site of the William Woods University Fall Invitational. The Cougars women's team came in fourth place out of five teams, while the men took eighth out of eleven squads. William Woods won both the men's and women's portions of the event.
Junior Hannah Gill finished in ninth place overall on the women's side with a two-day total of 166 (84-82, +22). Laken Frese (89-99) finished 19th, Christina Merideth (98-100) came in 24th, MiKayla Knaebel (101-103) was 28th, and Ashley Bridgford (108-108) tied for 29th for the Cougars.
Sophomore Hunter Parrish posted a two-day score of 150 (77-73, +6) to lead the Cougar men, finishing in a tie for 12th place overall. Logan Murphy (80-77, +13) tied for 30th, Tyler Kolb (81-79, +16) placed 38th, Erik Peyton (85-84, +25) came in a tie for 50th, and Levi Elder (88-87, +31) finished 55th to round out the scoring for the Cougar men.
Alex Ferrer of William Woods won the individual women's portion with a 153 (+9). Evangel University's Christian Bechard took home the top score on the men's side with a 137 (-7).
Both teams close out the fall season at the Park University Fall Invitational on October 15th and 16th in Parkville, Missouri.
