COLUMBIA -- In the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Preseason Rating, the Columbia Cougars are ranked No. 10 with 170 points after finishing the 2011-12 season ranked No. 13. Columbia wrapped up last season with a record of 27-7 after advancing to the second round of the NAIA National Tournament.

Columbia is under the direction of Bob Burchard, who enters his 25th season at the helm of the Cougar basketball program. This year's squad returns 10 players, including All-American and AMC Player of the Year Jordan Dressler.

Concordia University is ranked No. 1 with nine first place votes and 250 points. Oklahoma Baptist University is second with one first place vote and 242 points. Georgetown University is third, followed by Robert Morris University and Rogers State University.

Columbia is the only AMC team in the Top 25, but the Spartans of Missouri Baptist University sits just outside the poll with eight points.

The men's basketball squad opens the season off at home with a game against Concordia Seminary College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2 in the Arena of Southwell Complex.
