Cougar Men's Golf Places Third at AMC Championships
MADISON, IL - The Cougar men's golf team wrapped up play Tuesday at the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Championship hosted by Gateway National Golf Links. Columbia placed third in the six team field with an overall score of 917 (+53). Missouri Baptist University won the event with a score of 890 (+26), edging out William Woods University (898, +34).
Sophomore Hunter Parrish was the Cougars' top finisher, finishing in a tie for third place individually with a score of a 222 (74-71-77, +6). Junior Logan Murphy came in eighth overall after carding a 227 (77-74-76, +11). Freshman Mike Wilson shot 231 (79-77-75, +15) to finish 11th and sophomore Zach Rockers tied for 19th with a 241 (81-82-78, +25). Freshman Erik Peyton finished 21st and rounded out the scoring for Columbia with a 242 (84-78-80, +26).
Parrish was honored as the AMC's Newcomer of the Year and was also named to the All-Conference squad.
The event wrapped up the Cougars' inaugural season under first-year head coach John Utley as Columbia will return to the course in the fall of 2013.
