Cougars Drop Eagles in Arkansas

WALNUT RIDGE, AR -- The Columbia College men's basketball remained perfect in American Midwest Conference (AMC) Thursday night with a 73-55 win over Williams Baptist College. Columbia, which is ranked No. 21 in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll, improves to 17-5 on the season and 4-0 in conference contests. The Eagles fall to 6-13 overall with the loss loss and 1-5 in AMC play.

Columbia's 11-2 start helped propel them to a 39-20 halftime advantage. The Cougars doubled the Eagles' rebounding effort and shot over 45 percent from the field in the half and kept their momentum going into the second half. Columbia finished the contest with 45-29 rebounding edge and never trailed in the contest.

Four Cougars finished in double figures. Jordan Dressler paced Columbia with 16 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and three blocks. Taylor Evans had 13 points and Hal Payne and Wendell Crowder each scored 10 points. Payne also pulled down nine rebounds.

Chase Norwood led Williams Baptist in scoring with 10 points.

The Cougars return to the hardwood of the Arena of Southwell Complex on Saturday, January 28. Columbia hosts Hannibal-LaGrange University in another conference match-up at 4 P.M.
