Cougars Extend Regular Season Streak to 153
COLUMBIA -- The third-ranked Cougar volleyball team defeated American Midwest Conference (AMC) opponent Harris-Stowe State University 3-0 on Monday night, claiming their 153rd consecutive regular season victory in conference play. Columbia won the match by scores of 25-6, 25-15 and 25-14. With the win, Columbia improves to 31-1 overall on the year and 15-0 in league play.
The Cougars were led by Trinity Ojo, with ten kills in ten attempts on the night. Jordan Reid chipped in six kills in nine attempts and added six service aces. Paula Ferreira dished out 15 assists in the first set before Aleah Hayes took over as setter for the second and third set. Hayes logged 22 assists. Erin Pavlin also added nine digs.
Earlier today, Ferreira claimed her fourth overall AMC Player of the Week award for her efforts in leading the Cougars to wins over nationally-ranked Missouri Baptist University and Grand View (Iowa) College last week. For the week, she handed out 105 assists and also added 24 digs, nine kills and six service aces.
Columbia returns to the court on Wednesday, October 31st for a conference match-up with crosstown foe Stephens College. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Arena of Southwell Complex. Following Wednesday's contest all Cougar fans are invited to join in the fun as Columbia takes part in Cougar Madness.
