Cougars Finishes Season With a Perfect Conference Record

COLUMBIA - The Columbia Cougar volleyball team swept the Stephens College Stars today to finish the 2011 regular season with a 33-2 record and a perfect 16-0 conference mark. The victory also increases Columbia's regular season conference win streak to 138 consecutive matches.

Columbia wasted no time finding their groove on this senior day, taking down the Stars by scores of 25-10, 25-11 and 25-10. The Cougars' four seniors led the charge today with Serena Jenkins logging 11 kills in 23 attempts. Vesna Trivunovic had nine kills, Ola Shawky finished with eight and Nicole Murphy had six kills. Aleah Hayes had 18 digs and Paula Ferreira and Chelsea Browner combined for 36 assists.

The Cougars earned the top seed in the AMC postseason tournament that will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 8th. Columbia will host eighth seeded Benedictine University-Springfield at 7:00 p.m. in the Arena of Southwell Complex.
