Cougars Leap to No. 18 in Latest NAIA Top 25 Rating
COLUMBIA -- The Columbia Cougar men's basketball squad jumped to No. 18 in the latest NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Rating, released Monday by the national office. The Cougars moved up three spots after holding the No. 21 spot last week and collected 125 points this week.
Columbia is 18-5 overall and 5-0 versus American Midwest Conference (AMC) opponents. The Cougars play next AMC game on Thursday, February 2 when they head to St. Louis to take on Harris-Stowe State University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 P.M.
Columbia currently holds the top spot in the AMC regular-season race and completes the first half of the conference season on Thursday before starting the second half on Saturday against Park University.
Unbeaten Shorter College is in the top spot in the NAIA with 312 points. Closely behind is Robert Morris with 302 points. Southern Poly, Oklahoma Baptist and Our Lady of the Lake round out the top five.
