Cougars Make Quick Work of Eagles

Columbia - The third-ranked Columbia Cougar volleyball team defeated visiting Williams Baptist College 3-0 and 3-0 this afternoon in the Arena of Southwell Complex in a doubleheader. With the two victories, Columbia improves to 10-1 on the year and 4-0 in the American Midwest Conference . Williams Baptist drops to 11-4 overall and 3-4 in the AMC.

The Cougars made quick work of the Eagles in the first match, cruising to the straight-set victory by scores of 25-12, 25-13, and 25-16. Columbia faced little resistance from the Eagles again in the second match, dominating the visitors by scores of 25-14, 25-15, and 25-20.

Junior Kahoriz Feliz paced the Cougar attack with 29 kills on the day, and Carol Berger also added 21 kills. Elena Berroteran contributed a match-high 20 digs, while reigning AMC Player of the Week Paula Ferreira dished out a match-high 82 assists. Jameea Ward led the Eagles with 11 kills on the afternoon.

With the win, the Cougars' streak of consecutive regular-season conference victories stands at 142 matches. They will look to extend that streak Thursday, September 20th, when they travel to Fulton, Mo. for a 7:00 p.m. matchup with William Woods University.
