Cougars Notch 10-Point Win Over Lourdes
CHICAGO -- The Columbia Cougar men's basketball team defeated Lourdes College Tuesday night, 75-65, in the first day of the St. Xavier Midwest Tournament. The win moves Columbia to 9-5 on the season.
Columbia led Lourdes 36-31 at halftime. Columbia's defensive effort proved to be the difference in the contest, with the Cougars forcing 20 turnovers and turning the miscues into 27 points. Columbia shot 55 percent from the field and 89 percent from the free throw line.
Jordan Dressler led the effort for Columbia with 15 points and nine rebounds. Henrique Medeiros and Devin Griffin were also in double figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Matt Woodcock chipped in eight points and five steals.
Corey Harvey paced Lourdes with 27 points.
The Cougars return to the hardwood on Wednesday, December 21st in the second day of the St. Xavier Midwest Tournament when they take on Aquinas College. Game time is slated for 2:00 P.M.
