CPD finds man with stab wound near Hickman High School
COLUMBIA - One man is in the hospital Monday after police said they found him with a stab wound Monday afternoon.
Columbia Police Department's Public Information Officer Latisha Stroer said officers found a man between 40 and 50 years old around 2 p.m. Monday in the backyard of a home on Washington Avenue.
Stroer said the unidentified man was unresponsive when medics took him to a hospital.
Detectives and the Forensic Evidence Team were on the scene talking to neighbors in the area and gathering evidence, Stroer said.
Pecan Street was blocked off from Washington Avenue to Fourth Street during the investigation. That's right behind Hickman High School.
Stroer said no one has been arrested, and there is no suspect information.
Columbia Public Schools sent out an email to parents Monday afternoon that said there was an incident on Pecan Street being investigated by the Columbia Police Department. The email said law enforcement didn't think the incident was a threat to the school, so there was no lockdown.
