Crane awarded SEC Softball Co-Player of the Week
COLUMBIA - Mizzou Softball senior outfielder Emily Crane earned her first career honor from the SEC Monday when the league office named her SEC Softball Co-Player of the Week. Crane played a key role in the Tigers' four-game winning streak against Iowa and a ranked Texas A&M side.
Sunday evening's walk-off victory over the Aggies ended on Crane's game-winning run in the seventh inning.
The outfielder led the Tigers in a host of offensive categories this week. Crane hit .500, hit two home runs and added seven RBIs in four games. She currently is in the midst of a 17-game consecutive reached base safely streak, matching her career high.
Crane's two doubles over the weekend also extended her multi-hit games to 15 on the year and 68 in her long career. Her two home run, five RBI performance against Iowa highlighted her sensational week.
The Missouri native is having an All-American caliber senior season. Crane ranks second in slugging and total bases, fourth in homers, fifth in runs scored, doubles and RBIs and eighth in on-base percentage.
Crane and company seek a series sweep Monday, April 25, against No. 16 Texas A&M at University Field at 6 p.m.
