Crash Ejects Man from Vehicle, Car Crosses I-44
FRANKLIN COUNTY - Mark Ohara, 52, of Carl Junction, Mo. died after being a passenger in a vehicle that travelled off the left side of the roadway on westbound I-44 at approximately 4:40 p.m. Wednesday. According to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, driver Phyllis Ohara, 51, became distracted, lost control of the vehicle and struck the highway's cable median barrier.
The highway patrol said in its report the vehicle continued across the eastbound lanes of I-44 and eventually off the south side of the highway. It then overturned and completely ejected Mark Ohara. The accident partially ejected Phyllis Ohara. The crash report stated neither were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Mark Ohara was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur, Mo. and Phyllis Ohara suffered serious injuries.
