Crash Investigation Underway
The flight headed for Minnesota went down leaving the pilot and two passengers dead.
Thursday's investigation was about combing through records and wreckage, looking for the cause of the crash. The investigators were primarily looking into three areas: the pilot's performance record, the plane's maintenance record, and the weather conditions when the plane crashed.
The plane took off from Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield at 8 a.m. and went down in a farmer's pasture shortly after it disappeared from radar 15 minutes into the flight.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Department is taking part by keeping the area secure. After the National Transportation Safety Board finishes investigating, evidence will go to Washington where specialists will determine a cause.
