Crews Work to Restore Power After Electric Outage on Eighth St
COLUMBIA - Electricity is down on both sides of Eighth Street between Broadway Street and Cherry Street while electric crews work to replace an underground transformer. A Columbia Water & Light Department official said electricity could be out in the area until 5 or 6 p.m.
Columbia Water & Light said problems with the transformer began around 9 last night. After crews reset the transformer, it went out again around 4 this morning. Businesses in the affected area include the Tiger Hotel, the Sycamore restaurant and the Boone County National Bank. Columbia Water & Light said the bank might have a back up generator, as lights were on inside.
