Crunch Time for Columbia Public Schools
Columbia middle, junior high and high schools held forums to get public input on the district's priorities. Participants held small group discussions and completed online surveys.
"I certainly think our high schools are probably as big as they need to be. They are some of the biggest in the state," said parent Rodney Gray. "I think the idea of a third high school is great,, as long as you continue to adequately provide for the existing two high schools."
Participants agreed that using more portable classrooms won't relieve crowded cafeterias, gymnasiums and restrooms.
In addition to crowding issues, the forums discussed academic and extracurricular activities. District officials said they plan to hold more forums.
