Cyclones Take Wind Out of Tigers' Sails
The losses continue to snowball for Mizzou, with four straight and 10 in their last 11 games. ISU guard Will Blalock led a balanced attack with 20 points and five assists. Senior John Neal scored 14 points on Senior Night, and Iowa State's leading scorer, Curtis Stinson, added 13 points and eight assists. The Cyclones scored almost half their points from the bench, outscoring MU's reserves, 42-8.
After being a non-factor in the first half with only five points, Thomas Gardner came alive in the second half. Gardner's 19 second-half points was enough to keep the Tigers in contention. Jimmy McKinney added 19 for the Tigers, and Kevin Young scored 15.
The loss dropped Missouri to 11-15, 4-11 in the Big 12, and 1-4 under Coach Melvin Watkins. Mizzou finishes the regular season this Sunday against Nebraska in Mizzou Arena. Then, the Tigers will play at least one game in the Big 12 Tournament, starting March 9 in Dallas.
