Damien Davis Trial Continues
COLUMBIA - The trial for Damien Davis, the Columbia teen accused of a shooting at a Walmart parking lot continued into its third day on Thursday.
Damien Davis told jurors he did not shoot anybody in the Walmart parking lot. In fact, when asked if he was even present, he said no.
Most of Thursday centered around a video the prosecution played of a conversation between Davis and his father without a detective in the room.
The prosecuting attorney, Richard Hicks, argued that in the video Davis nods as if admitting he had done it. However, the defense argued, Damien does not nod, but rather leans in closer because his father is talking very low.
Davis is charged with first degree assault, armed criminal action, and first degree robbery.
The jury went into deliberation a little after 6 o'clock on Thursday. As of 7:30, they were still behind closed doors.
