Davies Earns All-American Status at NAIA Championships
MARSHALL, MO -- The Missouri Valley College track and field team had three student-athletes compete at the 2012 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championship. This event is being held at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
All three of the Viking athletes competed during day two of this competition. MVC Junior Tyler Davis finished in sixth place in the men's long jump marking 7.08 meters after entering competition as a 14th place seed. His sixth place finish overall in this event gained Davis NAIA All-American status.
Freshman Billi Pipes competed in the women's 200 meter dash finishing 19 out of 32 competitors setting a new school record for Missouri Valley College with a time of 25.34. MVC Sophomore Ignacio Franco competed in the men's 800 meter run finishing with a time of 1:57.29 and a 13th place finish in the event.
The Missouri Valley College track and field team is coached by Nathan Christianson who is in his first semester as head coach for the Vikings.
