Day Two of Murder Trial
The prosecution pointed out conflicting stories in the second day of the Carla Clay murder trial in Randolph County.
Clay is charged with murdering her two infants.
As komu's jade mingus tells us... Carla and her mother have different versions of the child's death...
Today the prosecution talked to a moberly detective who interviewed both carla and her mother on the june, 2004 day seven week old audrey died.
The detective says the women had two differing stories on what happened in the hours before audrey's death.
Both say they fed the child in the night... Feel asleep with the baby in their arms... And woke up to find the baby not breathing... Carla says the child died in her arms... But her mom says she was holding the child.
"these cases present an overall challenge based on the nature of the case. There's no particular aspect that's not challenging."(Randolph County Prosecutor Mike Fusselman)
"they were healthy thriving young infants."
Randy and audrey clay's pediatrician says the two infants had no medical conditions to explain their death.
"these are two former patients of mine my job was to help these families help these children grow healthy to adulthood."(pediatrician dr. sayon aramato)
The prosecutor mike fusselman says he thinks the trial will go to the jury tomorrow...
"the remaining witnesses are less about medical and more about the other things that happened after the initial event."
