KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Seth Thomas (Hannibal, Mo.) knocked down six of eight efforts from long-range en route to a 19-point outing, but it wouldn't be enough as William Woods University was upended 74-57 at Avila on Tuesday night. Logan Decker (Kansas City, Mo.) added 15 points in the effort.

Both teams got off to a slow start, but WWU would find the mark first, opening up a 12-4 lead with 12:27 on the clock.

Avila responded with a 20-2 run, however, and took a 33-19 lead into the locker room at halftime, stretching out to a 41-21 lead with 17:21 to go in the second half.

The Owls pulled to within 11, trailing 45-34 with 13:02 left in the game but Avila responded with a 10-0 run over the next 1:23 and held on to the cushion.

A strong second-half outing saw WWU finish the evening shooting .347 from the floor and .333 from three-point range, while the Eagles ended the night hitting at a .425 clip (.313 from distance). Although both teams pulled down 28 defensive rebounds, AU bested the Owls on the offensive glass by a 15-4 margin.

WWU falls to 3-3 on the season, and will host Central Bible College on Saturday as part of the William Woods University Basketball Alumni Weekend. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. at Anderson Arena.
