DED Releases January Employment Figures
JEFFERSON CITY - Data released today by the Missouri Department of Economic Development shows Missouri's non-farm payroll employment increased by 21,100 jobs in January.
The increase dropped the state's seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate to 7.5 percent, down by one half of a point from the December 2011 figure.
Missouri's unemployment rate has now fallen by 2.2 percent since January 2010, when the rate peaked at 9.7 percent, and is currently at its lowest level since November 2008.
In comparison with Missouri's 7.5 percent figure, the U.S. unemployment rate stood at 8.3 for last month.
