COLUMBIA - Delta Airlines announced Monday it will change flight schedules from Columbia on Wednesday, September 5,dropping one Memphis flight most days and adding an Atlanta flight.

Due to increased demand for direct flights to Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, Delta will run two daily flights to Atlanta Sunday through Friday, and both Saturday flights will go to Atlanta only. Memphis flights will occur once daily Sunday through Friday. The Atlanta flights will depart Columbia at 11:35 a.m. and 5:05 p.m. Sunday through Friday. On Saturday, the Atlanta flights will depart at 7:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The sole Memphis flight will depart at 6:30 a.m. Sunday through Friday.

Airport manager Don Elliot said the increased number of flights to Atlanta opens up more options for travelers. Delta flies to 243 destinations from its Atlanta hub.
