Democrats Want Donation Ban
Democrats say Gov. Blunt's appointees, their relatives and their businesses gave at least $260,000 to Republicans this year, compared with $3,400 they gave to Democrats. Kansas City Democrat Beth Low says numerous campaign contributors on state boards and commissions create doubt whether the governor appoints the most qualified people. She says some Missouri residents believe appointments are for sale. Blunt's office says the governor's campaign accepts only legal contributions, so he sees no reason to restrict appointees' political donations.
