Dept. of Conservation releases new phone app for deer hunting season
COLUMBIA - The Missouri Department of Conservation released a new phone application to help hunters report kills this deer hunting season, which began Saturday.
The "MO Hunting" app allows deer and turkey hunters to report their harvests and purchase hunting, fishing and trapping permits on their cell phones. The application also tracks previous permit purchases and telechecked kills.
Tom Strother, the Missouri Department of Conservation Regional Supervisor for Columbia, said the application should make the procedural end of hunting simpler for hunters.
"Hunters are required to telecheck their harvests and the app should make it easier for them," he said. "For those folks who have found it inconvenient to drive to a location or go home to log on to a computer, we hope the convenience of the mobile app will encourage them to check their harvests."
