Deputies arrest third suspect in connection with Leon Wilder murder
BOONE COUNTY - Deputies arrested a man from O'Fallon on Tuesday and confirmed he is connected to the investigation into the murder of Leon Wilder.
Justin Traughber, 37, has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance. The Boone County Sheriff's Department confirmed to KOMU that Traughber had some "level of involvement" in Wilder's death.
Deputies arrested Traughber for outstanding warrants on Mulberry Drive in Columbia, where deputies found a gun belonging to him inside a home. According to the probable cause statement filed on Wednesday, Traughber admitted to having the gun during an argument on July 6. That argument, the statement said, is under investigation in relation to a murder investigation.
At the time of his arrest, deputies said Traughber had methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia with him.
On Monday, authorities arrested Richard Henry and Arline Diedrich for Wilder's murder. Court documents said Wilder had been kidnapped and shot in the head before his body was left on a county road near Centralia.
